William Pattinson (birth unknown), also known by the nicknames of "Bill", and "Billy", is a former professional rugby league footballer of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He played at representative level for England, and Cumberland/Cumbria, and at club level for Workington Town (two spells), Warrington (Heritage № 675), Swinton, and Bradford Northern, as a second-row or loose forward/lock, i.e. number 11 or 12, or 13, during the era of contested scrums.[1]

Bill Pattinson won caps for England while at Workington in 1981 against France (interchange/substitute), and Wales.[2]

Challenge Cup Final appearances

Bill Pattinson played right-second-row, i.e. number 12, in Bradford Northern's 14-33 defeat by Featherstone Rovers in the 1973 Challenge Cup Final during the 1972–73 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 12 May 1973, in front of a crowd of 72,395.

Bill Pattinson played loose forward/lock (replaced by interchange/substitute Peter Gorley) in Workington Town's 11-16 defeat by Widnes in the 1976 Lancashire County Cup Final during the 1976–77 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 30 October 1976, played loose forward/lock in the 13-10 victory over Wigan in the 1977 Lancashire County Cup Final during the 1977–78 season at Wilderspool Stadium, Warrington on Saturday 29 October 1977, played loose forward/lock (replaced by interchange/substitute Les Gorley) in the 13-15 defeat by Widnes in the Lancashire Lancashire County CupFinal during the 1978–79 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 7 October 1978, and played left-second-row, i.e. number 11, in the 0-11 defeat by Widnes in the 1979 Lancashire County Cup Final during the 1979–80 season at The Willows, Salford on Saturday 8 December 1979.
