Bill Beckwith (born 31 May 1954) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL).[1]
Bill was a highly talented rover and forward-pocket who played his first senior game with Richmond as a 17-year-old. He joined the Richmond Under/19 team in 1970 where he was a superstar in the premiership winning team, the great Bill Beckworth was the leading goal kicker, kicking 56 goals for the season. Bill then went through the next 2 seasons, 1971-1973, to play 40 games for the Reserves, kicking 71 goals, and 10 games for the Seniors kicking 8 goals.
Bill left Richmond during the 1973 season, going on to play six seasons with Port Melbourne, where he was a member of their 1974 Premiership side, beating Oakleigh in front of a crowd of 24,000 people. Unfortunately Bill struggled throughout his football career with injuries, which sadly eventually forced to retire from football at the age of 27.
