The Big Church Day Out is a Christian non-profit music festival that takes place in Wiston, West Sussex, England, best known for its contemporary Christian music. Many musical types are represented at the festival with the festival to appeal to all denominations of Christians. The main musical genres featured are Christian rock, contemporary worship music, gospel and Christian rap.

The festival was extended from one day to three days in 2010, with an additional day in the Midlands. That year, the number of attendees went up to 25,000 from 15,000 the year before. The next year, in 2011, the length of the festival was reduced to two days and the number attending decreased to 20,000.[1]

The Big Church Day Out was created by Tim Jupp, a founding member of Delirious?.[2] The leading Christian pop and rock artists have appeared as headline acts with others appearing on smaller stages.

The event was featured on BBC Songs of Praise on 30 June 2013.

In 2017, a second weekend was held a week later at Capesthorne Hall in Cheshire.

Lineups

Famous Artist over the years have included Yfriday, Michael W Smith, Natalie Evans, for KING & COUNTRY, Switchfoot, Toby Mac, Casting Crowns, Phil Wickham, Newsboys, Delirious?, Israel Houghton, LZ7, Bethel Music, Jesus Culture, Lecrae, Gungor, Planet Shakers, BOSH (band), Matt Redman, Hillsong United (band), Dance Like Kings, Matt Maher and Tim Hughes.[3][4] Israel Houghton has performed the most times, performing in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015. In 2014, bands such as Worship Central (with Tim Hughes) and Rend Collective also attended. The amount of space for camping and at the main arena also doubled.
