Berry’s Coaches[1] is a coach operator based in Taunton, Somerset. It was established in 1920, and is still a family owned business today.

SuperFast London

Following deregulation of the UK coach industry by the Transport Act 1980, Berry’s commenced operating a service to London.[2] Today it operates 5-6 services in each direction from Taunton and Tiverton to Hammersmith bus station over three routes:[3]

  • Superfast 1 - Departing Tiverton via: Wellington, Taunton, North Petherton, Bridgwater
  • Superfast 2 - Departing Taunton via: Ilminster, South Petherton, Yeovil, Ilchester, RNAS, Wincanton
  • Superfast 3 - Departing Taunton via: Street, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Frome, Warminster, Codford

Fleet

Post-WW2, the company operated a fleet based for a long time on Plaxton bodies and Bedford engines. In the late 1980s, as they had preferred Volvo engines, they began purchasing the first Van Hool bodied coaches, which still today form a large part of the Superfast and Executive fleet. The local school and tour fleet is based mainly on VDL Futura coaches.
