Bereket Simon was the Ethiopian Communications Minister,[1][2] for the ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF). He was undergoing medical treatment in Saudi Arabia financed by the billionaire Mohammed Alamudin. [3][4] He was a close aide of former prime minister Meles Zenawi since their university days.[5]
