Beqaa (Arabic: البقاع Al-Biqā') is a governorate in Lebanon.

Districts

Since 2014, Beqaa Governorate contains three districts:

A law was passed in 2003 to separate Baalbek District and Hermel District from Beqaa Governorate to form a new governorate, Baalbek-Hermel Governorate.[1] Implementation of Baalbek-Hermel began in 2014 with the appointment of its first governor.[2]

  Christianity (40%)

According to voter registration data, the governorate is approximately 40% Christian to 60% Muslim (313505 voters)[3].

In the district (qadaa) of Zahlé (meaning na area much greater than that of the city proper), Christians form a simple majority of 55% of voters (172555 in total). In the district of West Beqaa-Rashaya (the two are combined as an electoral district), Christians account for 22.22% of voters (140950 in total).

Electoral constituency and confessional distribution

The governorate of the Beqaa is split into two, single district constituencies: Zahlé and West Beqaa-Rashaya.

Zahlé has 7 deputies: 2 Greek Melkite Catholics, 1 Armenian Orthodox, 1 Maronite, 1 Orthodox, 1 Sunni, and 1 Shi'a.

West Beqaa-Rashaya has 4 deputies: 1 Maronite, 1 Orthodox, 2 Sunnis, 1 Shi'a, and 1 Druze.
