Benjamin Hataman

Benjamin Hataman is a Filipino staff member who was charged with murder in the 2007 assassination of rival political leader Wahab Akbar in Basilan. He is cousin and former staff member to Mujiv S. Hataman, is an influential politician who was also implicated by ultimately cleared of involvement due to lack of evidence.

Political Activity

The Hatamans and their allies constitute one of the powerful familial political blocs of Basilan, and frequently come in conflict with the Akbar family in competing for elected office. In November 200 Benjamin was fingered by Abu Sayyaf Group member Ikram Indama in the a bomb that killed chieftain Wahab Akbar.[1]
