Benita Collings (born 1940) is an Australian theatre, television and film actress and television presenter. Collings is best known for her long running stint as a presenter for Play School on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).[1]
Play School (1969-1999)
Collings is one of the most well-known and recognisable faces on Australian television, thanks to her long tenure on children's program Play School beginning in 1969, and a role she held over 30 years and spanning 401 episodes, until 1999, who before her retirement was one of the longest serving cast members of the show.[2]
Television and film
In addition to her position as an Australian children's television presenter, Collings has been a stage and screen performer, appearing in many of Australian television dramas, including The Sullivans, The Young Doctors, Sons and Daughters, The Restless Years, Homicide, A Country Practice and others.[3]
Collings has appeared in the feature film Knowing as the mother of Nicolas Cage's character.[4]
