Bellingham Technical College
Bellingham Technical College (called Bellingham Tech or BTC)[1] is the only technical college in the northwest part of Washington state in the United States. it provides hands-on education in a variety of fields, from nursing and dental hygiene to welding and engineering. It is located in the town of Bellingham, Washington. Just a mile northwest of downtown Bellingham. The campus resides about 90 miles (140 km) north of Seattle and 60 miles (97 km) south of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is one of several community colleges in the area, including Whatcom Community College and Northwest Indian College. BTC teaches basic academic skills and has GED testing.[2]

BTC also provides classes, programs, and opportunities to assist students in acquiring learning skills necessary for academic and occupational success, and for personal enrichment. BTC partners with local and regional industry to address workforce needs in a variety of fields.
Centers of excellence
The NW Center for Process Manufacturing located at BTC is recognized by the state of Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges as one of ten State Centers of Excellence. Washington's Centers of Excellence website states that ...
Centers are flagship institutions that build and sustain Washington's competitive advantage through statewide leadership. Each Center focuses on a targeted industry that drives the state's economy and is built upon a reputation for fast, flexible, quality education and training programs. A targeted industry is identified as one that is strategic to the economic growth of a region or state.[3]
The center houses several degree programs including Electro-Mechanical Technology, Electronics Technology, Instrumentation and Control and Process technology.
Campus events
- LinuxFest Northwest[4] is weekend event held annually in late April or early May. It is dedicated to discussion and development of the Linux operating system and other open source and free software projects. The event is free to the public and draws more than a thousand computer professionals and enthusiasts from across Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia.
