Beata Bladh

Beata Bladh (1697-2 June 1754) was a Finnish merchant and shipowner. She was Vaasa's richest citizen for approximately two decades.[1]

Beata Bladh was the daughter of the merchant Hans Liljelund of Vaasa. She married the merchant Johan Bladh the Elder and became the mother of thirteen children. When she was widowed in 1737, she took control over the import- and export trading company of her late spouse and managed it until her death.[1] In 1740, she also founded a tobacco factory.[1]

Legacy

A poem about her, titled "Beata Bladh", is in the book Feminist Poems by Nancy Quinn Collins, published in 2016.[2] [3]
