Bayt Baws is a village in western central Yemen. It is located in the San‘a’ Governorate. There is an old castle which is now a touristic attraction.[1] Outside of the fort there is old dam and small area for the Jewish’s houses and synagogue.[2]
In Al-Hamdani's 10th c. "Antiquities of South Arabia," the founders of Bayt Baws are identified as the Bawsites descended from dhu-Tha'laban, a Himyar king descended from dhu-Murathid. Al-Hamdani cites ibn-'Abbas when he furnishes the legend that this Himyar line was famed to have been waited on and served by the demons.
