Bathu Temples

The Bathu temples (बाथू मंदिर) known locally as 'Bathu ki ladi' (बाथू की लड़ी) are a cluster of temples in the Kangra district of Indian state of Himachal Pradesh,These temples were submerged in Maharana Pratap Sagar, a reservoir created by Pong dam in early 1970s. Since then these temples are approachable only in months of May–June when the water level decreases. These temples are approachable by boat from Dhameta and Nagrota Surian and are approachable by road from Jawali. There are lots of small villages near this bathu (pong dam) names are sugnara,JAROT,bajera,katnor,khabal,ludret,bhial etc

Origins

The origin of the temple is not confirmed. Many stories about the origin of the temples are famous among the folklore. Some claim that the temple was built by Pandavas ,while some stories claim that It was built by a local king.

Rehabilation

Shivling was restored under the supervision of Honourable Manoj Kumar, the State coordinator of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in this ancient temple series.
