Balkavi Bairagi (10 February 1931 – 13 May 2018) was an Indian poet and politician from the Indian National Congress party. He was the Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh from 1998 to 2004. He died on 13 May 2018.[2]
Early life and education
Bairagi was born in Manasa, Mandsaur district, Madhya Pradesh in a Vaishnav Brahmin (Bairagi) religious family. His childhood name was Nand Ramdas Bairagi. But Jan Sangh (later BJP) leader Sunder Lal Patwa came in Manasa during the 1968 state assembly polls. After listening poem of Nand Ramdas he named him Balkavi Bairagi. He was an M.A. (Hindi) from Vikram University, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India.
