Badrashi is a town in the Nowshera District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is located at 33°59′19″N 72°1′30″E / 33.98861°N 72.02500°E / 33.98861; 72.02500Coordinates: 33°59′19″N 72°1′30″E / 33.98861°N 72.02500°E / 33.98861; 72.02500.[1]

Overview

According to the latest census (2017), the population of Badrashi is 45,771.[2]

Badrashi has 10 Mohallahs - Awaan, Eidgah, Miangaan, Aqa Khail, Essa Khail, Salmaan Kahil, Wati Kahil, Riggi, Najeeb Abad, and Raheem Abad. There is additionally a state-run hospital located at New Raheem Abad Mohalla alongside two state-run high schools for boys and girls. Both schools are located at Mohallah Awaan - however, Badrashi only has one primary school. There are 28 mosques in total. Spin Jummat, the central mosque is located in Essa Kheal.

Alumni of Badrashi include film star Asif Khan and his son Arbaz Khan, drama actor Baba Khan and wicket keeper batsman Gohar Ali.

The people of Badrashi settled prior to the creation of Pakistan. Different tribes such as Khiljis, Maliks and Awan often take active participation in the democratic elections, of which the votes are significant as it is the constituency of politician Pervez Khattak.

Khan Bahadur Taj Mohammad Khan of Badrashi village was a famous colonial-era contractor and landlord, whose father KB Abdul Hamid Khan was in the service of the British Empire, also receiving a lot of property from the British Empire. In the 1920s, he built a famous Taj building in Nowshera Cantt. Sher Afzal Khan was another famous contractor born in Badrashi, his company being SAK, built Pakistan Locomotive Factory located in Risalpur Nowshera 24100.
