Ayesha Lee is a fictional character in the BBC soap opera Doctors, played by Laura Rollins. Ayesha was introduced as a Practice Nurse at The Mill by Peter Eryl Lloyd. She made her first appearance on Tuesday 30 September 2014. Since her arrival in the show Ayesha has faced storylines including an on off relationship with Sid Vere, having a troubled relationship with Tyler Green, dealing with her mother Bren's alcohol and later drug addiction, being attacked by Ike and supporting Valerie Pittman through her Cancer scare.

Storyline

Ayesha first arrives at The Mill as a replacement for Mandy Marquez, she is almost immediately attracted to new doctor Sid Vere. Who she subsequently begins a relation with, the relationship at first is a great success when they have a dinner date and shockingly after Sid refuses to go home with Ayesha he kissed her. Although the relationship turns sour and is greatly troubled as they later sleep together; Ayesha is then frightened when Sid moves on with the relationship too fast. Ayesha becomes greatly reluctant to talk to Sid, Ayesha and Sid then break up as they hit the rocks once more. Ayesha is faced with more trouble as after the break up Sid and Ayesha continue to share feelings for one another; as when they go out together to a club on Halloween and Sid looks at Ayesha with a seductive look. However, Ayesha is horrified to later learn that what she thought was meant for her was really meant for one of the other women in the club. Later when Ayesha throws up over Sid, he then angrily exclaims to her that their romance is over for good. Which leads to Ayesha feeling shaken and isolated. Ayesha's troubles continue although when her and Sid decide to go on a double date together. Sid's date, Brittany, is a great success whilst Ayesha is left widely mortified when her date turns her down at the end of the night; she is later outraged and embraced to see that Brittany and Sid are planning to see each other again. Ayesha however decides she has to move on from Sid.

Ayesha decides to change her shopping schedule upon learning that Valerie Pitman (Sarah Moyle) is due to have her first chemotherapy session; she goes shopping with Valerie and goes with her to the session at St. Phil's. Despite acting strong for Valerie she is shaken by the whole oral and due to this she makes the decision to help and support Valerie through he ordeal. Ayesha then plans for Valerie to have a visiting rota, so she doesn't feel isolated and alone whilst her battle with cancer goes on.

Ayesha later got son a night out with Karen where she meets a charming man but is shocked to find she is being played, she later tries to help a young mother but puts herself in terrible danger.

Yeah faces distorter when she is horrified to find her sister Debs visiting the Mill, Debs then asks for Ayesha's help with their struggling mother Bren. Ayesha at first refuses although sh els left baffled as to how bad Bren has really got, Debs then urges Ayesha to reconsider her decision which leads Ayesha to be talked into helping her mother once again. In response to Ayesha's decision she goes to visit Bren although Bren is widely rude to her daughter and start to shout at Ayesha stating that it was her fault for getting Sierra taken away from her, Ayesha however argues back saying that if Bren cleans up her act then she could see terra again. Ayesha then tries to help Bren saying that if she is willing to change then Ayesha will take control of her finances so she won't spend all her money on drinking. Bren then breaks down and tells Ayesha she wants to change which pleases Ayesha. Ayesha then desperately tries to help Bren by going in to work and asking for Jimmi's help to find a good Rehab centre, Ayesha then calls the centre but is annoyed to find that it will be at least six months until a space is available. Ayesha returns to Bren's house where she is furious to discover that in fact Bren has spent the day drinking and Debs shows up becoming quick to blame Ayesha for Bren's drinking habit. Outraged at Debs and Bren's behaviour tensions run high and Ayesha leaves.

Trying to move on from Bren Ayesha goes out on the town with Sid but drinks far too much and begins to limbo dance at the club. Reaching the pint of embarrassing herself Ayesha then tries to kiss Sid however she is embraced and stunned to find that Sid has rebuffed her. Ayesha is then hurt to find that Sid will only ever see them as friends. Ayesha is later horrified to learn that Valerie is planning her own funeral following her cancer scare. However, Ayesha warns he that she is being far too morbid. With the help of Heston Ayesha decides to help Valerie further and to support he even more after the Cancer progresses. Ayesha later agrees to gatecrash a funeral with Valerie and she plans what they will tell the fellow guests if they ask why they have come, as Ayesha is under the impression that Valerie is going to get inspiration for he down "forthcoming" funeral. However Ayesha is saddled to learn that it is really Valerie's friend, Claire, form Chemo that has died. At the funeral emotions run high and Ayesha is knocked down by the sadness of the event, Valerie and Ayesha however do grow close after the event.

Ayesha later goes to work after night out and is hung over with her work outfit also being messy, Mrs. Tembe later scolds Ayesha for this and is angered when Ayesha continues to show little interest. Yet Ayesha then wins Mrs. Tembe over with her charm and wit, however later Ayesha clashes with Anthony after he is displeased with her work demeanour. Ayesha argues with him and Mrs. Tembe steps in to protect her. Anthony however he out argues Mrs. Tembe, Ayesha is left feeling alone pec again and rather unprotected. Mrs. Tembe then warns Ayesha that she should stay away from Anthony from now on. Later Ayesha is troubled further when a mysterious women pushes her way in to The Mill, however Ayesha is shocked to see that the woman in Bren. Bren then hugs a shocked Ayesha and a suspicious Emma. Ayesha then tries to help Bren again and she stops her mother from drinking although the withdrawal symptoms take hold of Bren and she begs Ayesha to let eh have a drink. This leads to the two ones again being at odds. Ayesha then struggles to cope with her decision to help Bren and the whole ordlea leaves Ayesha shaken and feeling alone. When Ayesha is invited to Mrs. Tembe's leaving party she is worried about leaving Bren alone at home because sh fears that she will cause trouble or even danger for herself. However, Ayesha speaks with Ruhma who persuades her to come to the party and tells her that she has to give Bren some freedom. At Mrs. Tembe's leaving party Ayesha is alarmed and shocked to find Bren stumble in drunk and violent. Ayesha then angrily drags Bren back to the car and scold her for her actions. Emma tries to help Ayesha with Bren although after a day alone with her Emma forcefully tells Ayesha thats he wants Bren out of her house for good, Ayesha then takes Bren back to he told house and gives her five pounds in order to pay for the shopping. This less to Ayeha being heavily late for work and Anthony is infuriated with her. Whilst on her rounds Ayesha decides to go to Bren's house where she is angered to discover thats eh is trying to hide a pint of lager she bought with the money Ayesha gave her. Although Bren is able to build bridges with her daughter after calming an angry Ayesha down with the good memories of their past. Ayesha later gets a formal warning from Anthony when some of the patients complain about her not turning up. Ayesha returns home and has high hopes to help Bren on the path to staying sober, although she is stunned to discover Bren with a man on the sofa. Ayesha makes them lunch although she gets little in return and Bren is rude to Ayesha again, Bren then introduces the man to Ayesha as Ike. Ayesha then furiously tells Ike to leave saying tats she must talk to Bren alone, she is then angered and enters into utter despair when she finds that Ike is Bren's new lodger. Ike and Ayesha then work together to help Bren, Ayesha is then shocked to learn that ike has had very serious drug and also alcohol. Ike promises he has been off the drugs but Ayesha is displeased to find that he has track marks up his arms. Ayesha then threats as she worried that Ike is bad news for Bren. Ayesha later searches Ike's bedroom where she is shocked to discover that he has heroine and also diazepam among his things, Ayesha then desperately calls Rob and tells him Ike has illegal drugs in her house. Ike however overhears this conversation and violently pushes Ayesha forcefully against the wall threatening to assault her. Petrified Ayesha is heavily shaken as Rob arrives saving Ayesha. Rob then searches Ike's bedroom but is saddled to learn that the drugs are all gone, Rob then tells Ayesha there is nothing he can do which upsets her. She then asks Bren too back he dup however much to her disappointment Bren takes Ike's side leaving him to smugly look on as Ayesha is left embarrassed and shaken by her ordeal. Ayesha later follows Ike when she is suspicious that he is up to no good. Yet Ike catches her and forcefully confronts her in the street, in response to this Ayesha is left shaken and returns to Bren's house here she uncovers the fact that Bren ha taken another drug. Ayesha then confronts Bren saying that she is simply moving from one addiction to another, however Ayesha then discovers that Bren is being evicted. Ayesha then returns to The Mill where she confides everything that has happened between her, Bren and Ike. Emma warns Ayesha thats eh must give up on Bren because els is making herself ill from all the stress, although Ayesha insist that she must continue to try with he mother. However, Ayesha goes back to Bren's house where she finds a note from Bren saying she is done with Ayesha and that she has left. When Emma continues to call Ayesha she gets worried, later Emma goes to find her and discovers that Ayesha is struggling to cope with Bren's departure. Believing that she has failed. They then look through Bren's things and discover Ayesha's birth certificate where Emma tries to tell Ayesha that Bren must still care about her. However, this fails to reignite Ayesha flame and she continues to slip further under her depressing spiral.

As Ayesha begins to get over Bren she goes with Valerie to go wedding dress shopping although when Valerie sees a charity dress shop, Ayesha advises Valerie to take caution over the dress. But Ayesha is quietly shocked when she finds that Valerie has also got her eye on the matching bridesmaid's dress. Much to Ayesha's at first shock Valerie gets down on one knee and she asks her to be her bridesmaid. Ayesha despite being stunned by the dress choice is delighted to be so valued by Valerie. Ayesha then plans Valerie's hen party and later attends Valerie's wedding, however just before the wedding commences Valerie learn that her cancer has become less intense. This leads for her to re-think her decision to marry Barry, yet Ayesha tells Valerie that she can't just give up on Barry because sh has been so happy since she has been with him. Ayesha is later relieved when Valerie goes to the church and Ayesha contuse to comfort Valerie after she worries what her life will be like after cancer.

Ayesha is later thrilled when she is able to help Sid find a new house. When they go house hunting though Sid feels disheartened when he can't afford any of the houses, turning to Ayesha for comfort. This late leads to Emma feeling isolated by the two looking at moving out of her house. Emma later become paranoid that Ayesha is planning to move out of he house.

Ayesha later meets Rob's new junior policeman Tyler at The Icon whilst she is with Valerie, at first Ayesha and Tyler widely clash with Ayesha saying that she could never trust a policeman. Tyler then ask out Ayesha but she rudely rebuffs him before leaving. Later on at Barney's halloween party Ayesha again meets Tyler and she again turns him down during the night. Although Ayesha is impressed by Tyler's cheekiness. Ayesha however discovers that Barney has stolen her aerosols and has inhaled most of them, Ayesha then rushes into action where she gets down and puts Barney in to the recovery position with the help of Tyler they get him conscious and rush Barney to hospital. Ayesha later goes to her date with Seb however she is shocked to find that it is Tyler who turns up along with Seb, they then both try to impress Ayesha however she is disappointed when the two start wrestling on the ground. Ayesha later orders Seb to leave and Tyler asks Ayesha out again. She accepts and they go a date the following day, however Ayesha still has reservations about Tyler. But she is pleased to see that Tyler is giving doll house to charity, Ayesha is then happy to be given a bookcase by Tyler. Although she is happy she also wants to punch Tyler but also kiss him, with her feelings becoming mixed. Ayesha then got bona secede date with tyler although she is horrified to find he was using her to watch a drug dealer. Ayesha has worries over her relationship with Tyler as she feels he's not the one for her. Ayesha is later disgusted to find that Valerie ha been up skirted by one of the campus students, Tyler arrives on the scene and is very kind to Valerie which delights Ayesha. Later Ayesha is disappointed to find that Tyler has arranged for their date to be a double one with Karen and Rob, and she is even more annoyed when they end up going bowling. Ayesha becomes angry at Tyler after he takes her for granted and she storms off from the bowling alley. Only for Tyler to take her back to his house, where Ayesha then unbuttons his shirt and they make love.

Ayesha is outraged when Tyler tracks down Bren; Ayesha angrily questions Tyler why he has involved himself in her business. Ayesha then confides this issue to Emma and tells Emma that is thinking about seeing Bren again even after what happened before. Yet Emma strongly advises against this and tells her to be careful as Bren could destroy not only her reputation and very things he's work for but also her relationship with Tyler. Emma then tells Ayesha that it's clear all Tyler was trying to do was help her which makes Ayesha rethink her opinion of the situation. Ayesha then goes to find Tyler where she discovers that Bren has been convicted several times and has even been working as a prostitute. Tyler then says that Bren ha been arrested for shoplifting and Ayesha begs Tyler to show her the CCTV footage of the theft. Tyler reluctantly then agrees to help Ayesha.

Emma is shocked to learn that when she slept with the man from the bar he took a photo of he ranked under the bed sheets and has posted it online, and turns to Ayesha for comfort. When Ayesha looks into the issue she learns that it isn't a one off thing and the same guy has been posting photos of them online. She then calls Emma and informs her of this, this upsets Emma greatly and Ayesha comforts her.

Ayesha later moves in with Tyler although she is worried when Valerie tells her that she and Ashley were once very happy but the novelty wore off. Ayesha is however happily shocked when instead of moving to the small flat as they planned Tyler surprises her with the big house they loved. Ayesha's happiness however is short lived when she is called to the hospital where she discovers that Bren has almost died from a drug overdose. Ayesha is later confused about thinking why Bren hadn't come to find her and then blames herself for what ha happened, Ayesha then plans to help Bren again sayings he and Tyler will look after her, yet when Ayesha comes back to the hospital room Bren has disappeared. Later when Bren reappears and has stolen a handbag, Ayesha lies on Bren's behalf acting as her alibi. Tyler then angrily questions Ayesha as he knows she is lying, appalled at her behaviour he asks what kind of person would do this. Ayesha however defends herself by saying that she is the kind of person that would do anything for her family. Bren later move sin to Ayesha and Tyler's house and causes tension for them, however when teller tries to get rid of Bren Ayesha defends her. However, Ayesha is disgusted to find evidence of drugs in Bren's bag. This leads Ayesha to break down completely and for her to be found crying by Tyler, Ayesha leans on Tyler and they sleep together. However, Tyler heads downstairs afterwards to call Ayesha in a worried. tone. She comes downstairs to find that all the cash in the house is gone and Tyler's laptop is missing, also Ayesha is shocked to learn Bren is the one who has taken them. Ayesha angered by her mothers rushes out to find her, and after a while she discovers Bren whom she forcefully confronts about the stolen goods. Bren then reveals to Ayesha everything that Tyler did, it being that he paid Bren to stay away from Ayesha, and she is shocked and angry at Tyler. She then is even more outraged to learn that Bren has already sold the Laptop and sold all the money, Bren begs Ayesha not to turn he ran to the police. Ayesha decides to let Bren go but tells her that she will be dead to her forever. Ayesha hone returns back to the house where she tells Tyler she will envy forgive him for paying Bren to stay away saying thats eh won't be able to trust him and will always feel like Tyler is trying to control her. Tyler tries to explain to Ayesha that he was only trying to help but she tells him that she still won't be able to forgive him for his actions. Tearfully Ayesha then leaves the house and Tyler believing it is for the best after everything that has happened.

Casting

On 19 July 2014, it was reported by Digital Spy that Laura Rollins had joined the cast as new regular Ayesha Lee. Rollins revealed: "Ayesha is the new practice nurse and she arrives with a bang. It's going to be very dramatic. What's very nice about Ayesha is that we get an insight into her extended family, which doesn't always happen on Doctors. There are a lot of storylines with my on-screen mum and little sister, and there are other members of the family coming in soon. Ayesha's family all have their own emotional baggage, which will get thrust onto The Mill. It's really exciting stuff and there's some quite harrowing, high-stakes stories happening."^[1]
