Aye Wutyi Thaung (Burmese: အေးဝတ်ရည်သောင်း, also known as Aye Thaung; born 27 May 1984) is a Burmese actress, singer and advertising model. She was one of the popular actress and models around 2000s.[1][2][3][4]

Early life

Aye Wutyi Thaung was on born 27 May 1984 in Yangon, Myanmar. She is the youngest daughter of two siblings, having an older sister. Her sister Hnin Wutyi Thaung is also an actress.[5] She attended high school at Basic Education High School No. 2 Yankin and graduated with chemistry from Dagon University and diploma from MHR Business and Management Institute.[6] Her nickname is Pauk-si (Mantou). She started modeling in 1997 and became winner of Miss Christmas in 1998.[7] She did not work as an actress for three years during her studying in Management Development Institute of Singapore.

Career

Aye Wutyi Thaung started modeling when she was 13 years old. She entered the world of fame as a teenager. She was 15 when she first appeared on screen.[8] She appeared in about 40 commercials, more than 100 direct-to-videos and 3 films.[9] She also acted for magazine cover photos and wallpapers. She also singing and released her solo music album Lawe Lawe Lay.[10][11]

In 2011, she completely disappeared from the screens for six years when she was busy with her business.[12][13] In 2014, she opened a store selling silk, cotton and traditional fabric. “Shwe Loon Than”, her shop, was such a success that she opened another one in 2016.

In 2017, she is popular again with her nickname Aye Thaung on Facebook, and got many requests to act the films and advertisements.[14] She starring in Burmese television series CHARM 2 alongside Bunny Phyoe, directed by Thar Nyi in February 2016.[15] In 2017, she starring in Burmese television series Yadanarbon and also starring in television series Mingalar Shi Thaw Ayet alongside actor Myint Myat and Kelvin Kate in 2018.[16][15] She has been acted 8 big screen movies and over 100 direct-to-videos in her acting career.[17][18]

Advertising

She was appointed as brand ambassador for Remax Myanmar and Samsung Myanmar on 2017.[19] In 6 March 2018, she was appointed as brand ambassador for Sunkist Myanmar.[20]
