Ayaal Sassi

Ayal Sasi is a 2016  Malayalam language film produced by  Sudhish Pillai and P. Sukumar . The film stars Sreenivasan in the lead roles along with Divya, Kochu Preman, Sreekumar and Anil Nedumangad. The films is directed by Sajin Baabu.[1] The films music is composed by Basil C J. The film was based on a story written by Sajin Baabu. The film was different from the usual fast moving films but portrayed the real life of a sexagenarian in a very natural way. The film was a different touch the portrayal of a single persons life.[2] It was also a movie that was nominated for Kerala State Film Award 2016.[3]

Plot

The film revolves around the life of a sexagenarian named Sassi Namboothiri. He is care free person with no family baggage. He has a gang of friends for whom he conducts party's in his home every weekends.He is know to the people as an artist. He makes his living by purchasing drawings from fine arts college students and selling them at higher cost with his name signed to those pictures. Later it comes to know that Sassi is suffering from fourth stage liver cancer due to his drinking habit and has only six months to end his life. He chooses to put his trademark on earth by ordering for a "smart" coffin to cremate him and converts to Christianity for the same. Later problems arise when some critics raise the issue that the coffin is much bigger than the original one and can not be allowed to be cremated. He feels that all his efforts have gone in vain and leaves the place .On the way he leaves the coffin to float in the water and moves away with his life.[4][5]
