Ayşe Hümaşah Sultan (1541–1594) was an Ottoman princess, daughter of Mihrimah Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and Rüstem Pasha (Grand Vizier 1544–53, 1555–61). She was, through her mother, a granddaughter of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his favorite consort and legal wife, Hürrem Sultan.

Biography

Born in Istanbul in 1541, she was her parents' first child and only daughter, and possibly her grandparents' first grandchild as well. She had several brothers, whose number and names are though contested. She was married to Semiz Ali Pasha (d. 28 June 1565), who succeeded her father as Grand Vizier upon the latter's death. The marriage produced four sons. She was then married to Nisançi Feridun Bey, only to be widowed again after a year of marriage. Her third and final marriage, was reportedly to Aziz Mahmud Hüdayi Effendi in 1590. She died in Istanbul in 1594, and was presumably buried alongside her son Osman Bey, already deceased since 1590, in Mihrimah Sultan Mosque.

Issue

Ayşe Hümaşah had four sons by her first husband, of which she outlived at least three. Her sons include:

  • Abdurrahman Bey: with his mother being a very rich woman, he married the daughter of Cağalazade Sinan Pasha.
  • Mehmed Bey (d. 22 June 1593): Served under Telli Hasan Pasha as sanjakbey of Herzegovina. Drowned in Kupa River during the Battle of Sisak.
  • Şehid Mustafa Pasha ("Mustafa Pasha the Martyr"; d. 22 June 1593): Served as sanjak-bey of Klis. Drowned in Kupa River during the Battle of Sisak.
  • Osman Bey (d. 1590).
