Avinashi road Flyover also known as Uppilipalayam flyover[1] or Roundana is a flyover in coimbatore which connects the Northern and Eastern areas with other parts of the city.It is built across the railway line connecting coimbatore main junction. The fly over was built to ease traffic congestion. The flyover is in the one end of the Avinashi Road

History

The flyover was built four decades ago that is in 1970 s.The flyover design is roundabout. The flyover was built due to traffic congestion caused by the railway crossing near the coimbatore junction. The flyover connects the Northern and Eastern areas with other parts of the city.Though the flyover helped in decongesting traffic, there are some flaws in the bridge and modification is required. There is no pedestrian walk in the bridge. The Roundana design confuses people who travel through coimbatore and misguides them to wrong route.Several modification plans have been suggested to improve the design of the bridge.[2].The bridge also lacks maintenance which has made the structure weak.[3] [4]
