Avant Records was a record label based in Japan that specialized in avant-garde jazz and experimental music which released more than 80 albums between 1992 and 2004 .[1][2] The label was started in 1992 by John Zorn, a composer and saxophonist, as an subsidiary of the Japanese DIW Records. In 1995 Zorn started Tzadik Records in New York with Kazunori Sugiyama as an output for his own albums and several artists that appeared on Avant.
