The film was a debut for Sachin as a director. Production of the film began with an estimated budget of 10 crore, though it was added that makers kept it open-ended, considering that they contemplated earnings of around 75 crore from the film. The New Indian Express reported in mid November 2017 that the screenplay of the film was "nearly done" and that the makers were finalizing on the characters for the film and locations, mostly in the North Karnataka region like Gajendragad. Set in the 1980s in a fictional village Amaravathi, it was revealed that Rakshit Shetty would play a police officer.[6]
