Aung Than (Burmese: အောင်သန်း; born 13 November 1935) is a Burmese dentist and known as the father of Myanmar Dentistry. He served as the rector in University of Dental Medicine, Yangon from 1964 to 1983; he was the first president of the Myanmar Dental Association (MDA) from 1979 to 1984.[1] He retired as the Myanmar ambassador to Australia.[2] Aung Than was born in Yangon, Myanmar on 13 November 1935.[3] He graduated from University of Medicine 1, Yangon in July, 1960. He received D.D.S. from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1963.[3]
