Arthur Shaw (9 April 1924 – 2 November 2015) was an English professional footballer who played as a wing half.[2]
Career
Born in Limehouse, Shaw played in the Football League for Brentford, Arsenal and Watford, making a total of 64 league appearances.[1] Shaw also played non-league football for Southall, Hayes, Gravesend & Northfleet and represented the England national amateur football team.[3] Arsenal won the First Division title in 1952–53 and he made 25 league appearances,[4] enough for a winners' medal.[5] A flag bearing his name flies in tribute on the Ken Friar Bridge, close to Arsenal tube station.[6]
