Arlindo Manuel Limede de Oliveira, born in Negage, Angola, is a Portuguese academic, researcher and writer. He is author of more than 100 scientific articles and papers in conferences[1] and of the book The Digital Mind,[2] published by MIT Press. He has also co-authored a book on computer architecture,[3] published in Portuguese by IST Press.

Arlindo Oliveira obtained his engineering degree from Instituto Superior Técnico and his PhD degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a senior member of the IEEE and of the Portuguese Academy of Engineering,[4][5] a notable alumnus of the Technical University of Lisbon and the Head of the Portuguese node[6] of ELIXIR.[7] He has been director of INESC-ID between 2000 and 2009, and president of Instituto Superior Técnico since January 2012.
