Arius Raposas (born 1 January 1996), also known by the pseudonym Al Raposas, is a Filipino writer. Owing to his appearances in and invitations by a number of radio and television networks in the Philippines at a relatively young age, he has shared his knowledge about history. Besides having academic works on history, political science, and public administration, among other disciplines, he maintains a history website known as the Fil7ipino Historian.[1]

Early life and education

Raposas has been involved in public service since 2003. He has also served in various volunteering activities, many of which are school-related or church-related. Prior to this, he has served in the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.[1] In 2013, he had an unsuccessful bid as councilor for the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy student council of the University of the Philippines.[2] He also presented his research about student elections in U.P.[3] Having gained the highest honors (valedictorian) in four different schools in the primary level, he received secondary education at Marikina Science High School, wherein he was awarded the Marikina City Mayor's Excellence Award.[1] Then, he obtained a bachelor's degree in history at the University of the Philippines. He graduated as magna cum laude. In recognition of his academic achievements, he was inducted as a member of Pi Gamma Mu and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.[4] As of 2017, he is taking a master's degree in public administration in the same university.[5]

Career

His writing career began in 2010. Meanwhile, the history website Filipino Historian was launched by Raposas in 2012 as an alternative medium to promote history for the Philippines and the world. As of 2017, it claims to have reached more than a million people.[1] He has also written articles featured in a number of publications, including SINAG, Bantayog, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer.[6][7][8] He is currently working as a researcher.[9]

Even if he made appearances in DZUP, TV5, UNTV, and GMA Network[1] to share information about history, he is still not a historian for the title requires further training, not just a bachelor's degree. His claims of being the youngest historian has raised some eyebrows in the academe.

He is a possible polyglot for he has working knowledge in at least four languages: English, Filipino, Spanish, and Japanese.[1]
