Arctic is an upcoming survival film directed by Joe Penna. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen and Icelandic actress Maria Thelma Smáradóttir. Mikkelsen has deemed the film "by far the most difficult shoot [he's] ever done".[1]

Plot

A man stranded in the Arctic is about to receive a long awaited rescue when the helicopter that finds him crashes. The pilot is killed with the passenger severely injured. He must then decide whether to remain in the relative safety of his camp or to embark on a deadly trek through the unknown for potential salvation.[2]

Release

On April 12, 2018, the film was selected to compete for the Camera d'Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.[3][4] Bleecker Street acquired U.S. and select international rights out of the Cannes Film Festival.[5]

Reception

On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 100%, based on 10 reviews, and an average rating of 7.2/10.[6]
