Arctesthes catapyrrha is a moth of the Geometridae family.[2] It is endemic to New Zealand.[3]

Taxonomy

This species was first described by Arthur Gardiner Butler in 1877 as Fidonia catapyrrha.[4]

Distribution

A. catapyrrha is widespread and is found in open areas from coastal to alpine locations.[5] It has been observed in the Mackenzie Country,[6] Kaitorete Spit,[7] near the Waimakariri River,[7] and in Central Otago.[8]

Life stages

A. catapyrrha is a day flying moth.[9] Adult moths can be seen between October and March.[7][9]

Arctesthes catapyrrha larva

Larvae of A. catapyrrha feed on Plantago species[3] and on Raoulia australis.[9]
