AppFolio was founded in 2006 and offers software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications for vertical markets. AppFolio initially focused on Property Management. With the acquisition of MyCase in 2012, it expanded into the Law Practice Management industry.

The company’s headquarters is in Goleta, California, United States.[1] It also has offices in San Diego, California; and Dallas, Texas.[2]

History

AppFolio was established in 2006[3] by co-founders Klaus Schauser[4] and Jon Walker.[5][6][7] Schauser had previously founded Expertcity.[6][5] The company’s first focus was Property Management for small-to-medium businesses[5] and its first product, AppFolio Property Manager,[6] was launched in 2007.[7] In November 2012, AppFolio acquired MyCase, a "legal practice management software provider."[8] AppFolio purchased real estate software firm RentLinx in April 2015. This acquisition included rights to the website ShowMeTheRent.com, which expanded the sphere of AppFolio’s clients and provided them with "greater listing presence".[9][1] In May 2015, AppFolio announced its IPO,[4] which was unveiled in June.[3][1] It raised $74 million.[10]
