"Anything We Want" is a song by Fiona Apple from her album The Idler Wheel, released in 2012.
Release
On June 18, 2012, she appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Before she sung the song she stated, "It’s gonna sound a little bit bitchy, I don’t care. There’s somebody who thinks that the song I'm about to sing is about them. It's not about you... well, it's not about anybody, but I'm gonna be singing it to the person who gave me this. But if you did not give me this, I am not thinking about you."
Spin magazine states the song "revels in the unruly sexuality that the music business once seized upon in a then-teenage Apple."[1]
Reception
- Spin Magazine states "the idiosyncratic percussion and huskily powerful vocal of Apple's SXSW rendition happily persist, but the vibrant imagery can be heard more clearly in this studio version."[1]
- Entertainment Weekly calls the song one of the best tracks on the album.[2]
