Antonio Bicchi

Antonio Bicchi is an Italian professor of robotics at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia[1] and the University of Pisa[2] at which he works since 1990s[3] and a 2005 IEEE fellow.[4]

Early life

Antonio Bicchi had graduated from University of Bologna in 1988 and then worked at Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a postdoc till 1990. From 2003 to 2012 he was a director of the Research Center "E. Piaggio of the University of Pisa and since 2013 is serving as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering of Arizona State University.[5]

Career

Research

In 2017 Antonio Bicchi had partnered with Sasha B. Godfrey and Rosalind Sadleir, under guidance from professor Marco Santello, to develop a synergy-based robotic hand.[6]

In 2018 he was one of the speakers at the International Robotics Festival along with Nikos Tsagarakis and Barbara Caputo who also spoke on the development of a Plantoid, a robot in shape of a plant.[7] The same year he along with Paolo Ferragina had developed an algorithm.[8]

Editorial work

In 2015 Antonio Bacchi had founded IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters of which he also was its Editor-in-Chief.[9] He was also Editor-in-Chief of the Conference Editorial Board for the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.[10]
