Annette Karen Carell (born Anneliese Erlanger; 7 January 1926 – 20 October 1967)[1][2][3][Note 1] was a German-born American actress[4] who lived in the United States and Britain at various stages of her career. She appeared in American, British and German television series and films, including Beyond the Curtain, No Hiding Place, The Prisoner, The Avengers, Out of the Unknown, Our Mother's House, Z-Cars and others.[5]

Born in Nuremberg, Bavaria, she left Germany as a teenager for England, and then emigrated in 1942 to the United States, where she acquired American citizenship on 12 February 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts.[6] In 1953, she married expatriate British playwright Gerald Savory.[7] They returned to England in 1956.[8]

Carell died of a barbiturate overdose at her home in London on 20 October 1967,[8] in what was ruled a suicide.[3]
