Anna Goryachova

Anna Goryachova (born 10 December 1983) is a Russian operatic mezzo-soprano, known especially for her interpretations of belcanto operas.

Career

Anna Goryachova started her studies as a pianist, then entered The Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory in the vocal department, graduating under the direction of Galina Kiseleva. In 2008 she became a soloist of the St. Petersburg Chamber Opera, under the guidance of the director Yuri Alexandrov. Until 2011, she continued her studies in Rome, at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, with Renata Scotto, Anna Vandi and Cesare Scarton and at the Accademia "A.R.T. Musica" with Romualdo Savastano.

Since her European debut in 2011 in Antwerp, where she first sang a role that she portrayed many time later, Marchesa Melibea in Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims, conducted by Alberto Zedda, she sang Alcina in Haydn's Orlando paladino at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, conducted by Jean-Christophe Spinosi, then made her debut in the title role in Carmen conducted by Dmitri Jurowski in Antwerp.

In 2012 Goryachova made her debut at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where she sang Edoardo in Matilde di Shabran, with partners like Juan Diego Flórez and Olga Peretyatko, conducted by Michele Mariotti and directed by Mario Martone.^[1] She came back at the Rossini Opera Festival a year after, when she portrayed Isabella in L'italiana in Algeri staged by Davide Livermore.^[2]

Goryachova has been a soloist of the Zürich Opera until the 2016/17 season; there she sang roles and operas like Rosina in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia conducted by Enrique Mazzola, Drei Schwestern by Péter Eötvös, Händel's Rinaldo, Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni conducted by Fabio Luisi, Polina in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades, Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims, conducted by Daniele Rustioni, Vivaldi's La verità in cimento with Ottavio Dantone and the world premiere of the opera Rote Laterne, composed by Christian Jost and conducted by Alain Altinoglu.

In 2014 Goryachova made her debut at Paris Opera Garnier as Ruggiero in Handel's Alcina, conducted by Christophe Rousset and at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna as Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan tutte, conducted by Michele Mariotti and directed by Daniele Abbado.

2015 has seen Goryachova making her debut in Amsterdam, at the National Opera, once again as Marchesa Melibea in the Damiano Michieletto's new production of Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims, conducted by Stefano Montanari and in the Opera of Florence as Dorabella in Così fan tutte, directed by Lorenzo Mariani. In 2015 she also sang Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Mikailowski-Theatre in St. Petersburg , in Rome in Stravinsky's Les noces, in Pesaro in Rossini's Stabat Mater.

In 2016 she sang Adalgisa in Bellini's Norma at Teatro Verdi in Trieste and Teatro San Carlo in Naples and she sang once again at the Amsterdam National Opera, Polina in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades, staged by Stefan Herheim and conducted by Mariss Jansons.

In 2017 she made her debut in the title role of Rossini's La Cenerentola at the Oslo Opera, then she sang Alcina in Haydn's Orlando paladino and Rosina in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Zürich Opera, before portraying again Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome.

Goryachova is married to the Italian baritone Simone Alberghini; they have one child.
