Ann Limb

Ann Geraldine Limb CBE, DL (born 13 February 1953) is a British educationalist,[1] business leader[1] and charity chair.[2] In September 2015, she became the first woman to be elected as Chair of The Scout Association[2] since the movement was founded by Robert Baden Powell in 1907. She is also chair of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP);[3] led the bid for Milton Keynes to be European Capital of Culture in 2023;[4] and has held various other posts in public life.[5]

In 1998 she founded the Helena Kennedy Foundation, which supports students from further and adult education progressing into higher education.[6]

Limb was born in Moss Side, Manchester, the daughter of a butcher,[7] and studied at Marple Hall County Grammar School for Girls, now Marple Hall School, followed by the University of Liverpool.[1] She is a Fellow Commoner of Lucy Cavendish College University of Cambridge.[8] She lives in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.[5]

She was featured on BBC Radio 4's Woman’s Hour in October 2015.[9] A Quaker herself,[1] in 2016, she appeared on BBC Radio 4's Great Lives, nominating George Fox, founder of the Quakers.[10]

In October 2016 Limb featured in the BBC 1 television series Going Back Giving Back forming the narrative of Series 1 Episode 9 13 October 2016[11]
