William Andrew Tinkler (known as Andrew Tinkler) was the Chief Executive Officer of Stobart Group Limited until 1 July 2017.[1][2]

He lives in Cumbria.

Starting his career as a cabinet maker and glazing fitter in 1988, Andrew’s natural entrepreneurial streak saw him found WA Tinkler Building Contractor in response to market opportunities.

The business later became WA Developments Limited, a company which developed a close focus on delivering skilled civil engineering contracts for the railway infrastructure maintenance and improvement sector.

In 2004, WA Developments International Limited, a business owned by Andrew Tinkler and William Stobart, acquired Eddie Stobart - transforming its fortunes and driving the new era of multimodal logistics. Andrew later led the merger with Westbury Property Fund Limited in a move which saw the birth of Stobart Group. Andrew became Chief Executive and powered the Group through a period of organic growth and strategic business diversification.

In 2011, he was named the CBI North West Business Leader of the Year and recently led the Group’s partial realisation of its Transport and Distribution business in April 2014.

He owns 7.7% of Stobart Group as of May 2018[3] and also owns W A Developments Holdings Ltd.

On 11 May 2017, it was announced that the Stobart Group CEO would change to Warwick Brady from the June AGM, with Andrew remaining as an Executive Board Member and also heading up Stobart Capital, a new venture independent of the Stobart Group.

On Thursday 14th June 2018, it was announced that Stobart Group had served notice on Andrew and removed him from the board of directors of Stobart Group. [4][5]
