Ana Torfs

Ana Torfs (born 1963) is a Belgian visual artist.

She was born in Mortsel and studied communication science at the University of Leuven and film and video at the Sint-Lukas University College of Art and Design in Brussels. In 2013, she was named a docent at the LUCA School of Arts. Torfs lives and works in Brussels.[1][2]

She uses a wide range of media in her work including slide projections, audio, photographs, video, tapestries and silk screen.[2]

Torfs has had solo exhibitions at the Centro de Arte Moderna in Lisbon, at Generali Foundation in Vienna, at Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf, at the Sprengel Museum in Hanover, at daadgalerie in Berlin, at Gesellschaft für Aktuelle Kunst in Bremen and at Wiels, the Centre for Fine Arts and the Argos Centre for Art and Media in Brussels. She has participated in group exhibitions including the Manifesta 9 in Genk, the Sharjah Biennial in 2013, the International Biennial of Contemporary Art of Cartagena de Indias in 2014, the Parasophia International Festival of Contemporary Culture in Kyoto in 2015,[1] La Biennale de Montreal in 2000 and the Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art in 1999.[3]

In 2004, A Prior magazine dedicated an issue to three artists including Torfs.[1]
