An Evergreen Christmas is a 2014 American holiday independent film written by Jeremy Culver and Morgen Culver and directed by Jeremy Culver as Culver’s first narrative feature. The film stars Charleene Closshey, Robert Loggia, Naomi Judd, Tyler Ritter, Booboo Stewart, Greer Grammer and Jake Sandvig and is set in the fictional town of Balsam Falls, Tennessee.[2]

Leaving her seemingly glamorous Hollywood life on hold, Evie Lee is forced to return to her small hometown of Balsam Falls, Tennessee and her family's once-thriving Christmas tree farm to attend her father's unexpected funeral. As the eldest sibling, she finds herself executor of an estate that owes a massive inheritance tax, much to her younger brother's dismay. Torn between pursuing her music career and saving her family's legacy, she must decide what it really means to find her place in the world.[3][4]

Principal photography began in Charlotte, NC February 2013, shooting primarily in Cleveland and Gaston Counties as well in parts of Lincoln and Mecklenburg counties. While filming, the project was also known as "Balsam Falls" and early on as "Christmas Evie".[5]

The film released direct to DVD on November 4, 2014 with premiere theater screenings in Nashville, TN and Tampa, FL.[6][7] The film was available on Netflix for 38 months from December 20, 2014 until January 21, 2018.[8]

Plot

Aspiring musician Evergreen Lee thought it would be a quick trip home: a funeral, a few well wishers, hang around for a couple days to help her grandfather and younger brother, then head back to Los Angeles. What she didn't expect to find in tiny Balsam Falls, TN was an impending estate tax jeopardizing her family's home and a large Christmas tree conglomerate with their sights on the family farm. Now, Evergreen must chose between two very di f erent paths - go back to her "Hollywood" life and once again leave those who truly care about her or stay in Tennessee, face her fears, and rediscover her musical roots. With a hilarious cast of characters in tow, each day brings new adventures as she reconnects to country life and tries to make sense of a world that has been turned upside down.

The film is rated PG.[9]
