Amphilectus utriculus is a species of demosponges found in the Atlantic waters west of Mauritania, western Africa.

The species was first discovered on 10 June 1988 underwater southwest of Cap Timiris in Mauritania at a muddy bottom between 260 and 280 metres deep in a second Mauritanian Expedition by R.W.M. van Soest and J.J. Vermeulen. Together with Cape Verde's Amphilectus strepsichelifer, it was named after where it was first found in 2012 by van Soest, Beglinger and De Voogd.[1]

The species inhabits deep waters between 250 and 300 metres and is found at hard sea-floors.[2]
