Amleset Muchie (Amharic: አምለሰት ሙጪ) is an Ethiopian model, actress and filmmaker.

Personal life

Muchie was born in Ethiopia. She studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and journalism at Unity University.[1]

In 2012 Muchie married Ethiopian singer Teddy Afro at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa.[1] They have two kids together.[2]

Career

Muchie was the winner of the Miss University 2004 contest, representing Ethiopia. She was also a winner of the Miss World Ethiopia pageant in 2006. She studied journalism at Unity University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.[3]

Additionally, Muchie is a filmmaker. She wrote and produced the movies Si Le Fikir (About Love), Adoption, and the documentary Green Ethiopia.[4]

Muchie also serves as the spokeswoman for the Etete Dairy products in Ethiopia.[5] She is outspoken about environmental issues facing Ethiopia.[6]

Muchie participated in the UN 2018 Women First 5k that took place on March 11, 2018 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She won Icon Women's race in a time of 25.25.[7]
