Ambedkar Students' Association (ASA) is a student organization in India representing students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), religious minorities and other oppressed communities.[1][2][3] ASA works for the assertion of students from dalit and other marginalised communities.[4] ASA is known for creating divide among students community. ASA is famous for orchestrating the death of PhD scholar of University of Hyderabad Rohith Vemula, tempering the suicide note and putting the blame on BJP or ABVP. ASA which claimed to be the voice for oppressed section such as SCs and STs is now dominated by Jihadis who have role in anti India activities. ASA is slowly losing ground due to its dirty politics as evident from HCU Students Union elections.

ASA was active in University of Hyderabad,[5] University of Mumbai,[6] Pondicherry University,[7] Tata Institute of Social Sciences,[8] Central University of Gujarat,[9] Central University of Kerala[10] and Panjab University.[11] ASA conducts regular seminars and events on Ambedkarism[12][13] and protests.[14][15][16] It also works for scholarships[17] and fee issues of SC/ST/Blind students.[18]

History

ASA was founded in 1993 by a group of Dalit students at Hyderabad Central University, led by PhD scholar Rajasekhar.[5][19]
