Amaravathi is a 2009 Indian Telugu-language thriller film written and directed by Anasuya fame Ravi Babu, Sneha and Bhumika Chawla in lead roles, with Ravi Babu himself, Sindhura Gadde and Taraka Ratna playing supporting roles.[2] It was released on 3 December 2009 to highly positive reviews. The film won Nandi awards for Taraka Ratna as the Best Villain and N. Sudhakar Reddy for Best Cinematography.[3]

Plot

A friendship blossoms between Sreenu, the son of a maid servant and Amaravathi the daughter of the landlord in whose house the maid worked. Adolescent play between the boy and girl catches the furious eye of the landlord who kills the maid and slits Sreenu’s throat and throws him into a river. He is later saved by a hypnotiser who finds him by the river side, he restores him back to life and teaches him hypnosis. In the present day police are baffled by a series of crimes where the sadistic perpetrator was stealing babies from fully pregnant women, leaving the women bleed to death. Task Force officer Venkat is recalled from a sabbatical and given charge of the case. He quickly cracks the case and apprehends the culprit. But the crimes against pregnant women continue with the culprit in jail. Sure that he had apprehended the right culprit, Venkat decides to investigate deeper. And finds out that the crimes were committed by the task force who worked to catch the culprit by hypnotizing them. He discovers that the culprit in jail was Sreenu, the boy whose throat was slit and thrown into a river. By the time Venkat completes his investigation, Sreenu gives the cops a slip and escapes from prison. Venkat somehow deduces that Srinu wanted a total of ten babies to complete his mission and was one short. Venkat wants to save that one baby and mother from Sreenu’s blade. He investigates furiously and is shocked to discover that the tenth baby Sreenu wanted was in the womb of his wife. Plot twist is that Sreenu is collecting all these babies for the sake of Amravati who has gone insane since her miscarriage, so Sreenu finds her and takes care of her. Amaravati who has a weird desire of having everything in tens, wants ten children badly but isn't physically or mentally fit to have children, so Sreenu kidnaps the daughter of the doctor and blackmails her to plant her fetus in ten women who approaches him in hopes of conceiving after finishing of her work he hypnotize her and makes her commit suicide. Meanwhile venkat is gone missing in the office. In the investigation his colleagues shocks to know that sreenu uses venkat as his delivery man by hypnotising him. Venkat takes her wife to sreenu's hideout in the city's outskirts then sreenu and his trusted aid caretaker of amaravati and also his partner in crime starts to take the baby from her womb. Then taskforce reaches on time while tracking venkat's cell phone and makes him normal then after knowing the facts venkat became furious went back to their hideout. Then the fight ensues between venkat and sreenu with a hard struggle venkat defeats sreenu in the fight. Meanwhile taskforce kills the caretaker of amaravati and possess all babies. Sreenu realises his situation and guilty of his sins gives a loaded pistol to amaravati on the name of hide and sick game kills himself through her. Meanwhile venkat injects an antidote to his wife which prescribes her personal doctor (before venkats marriage her wife tries to commit suicide with a police pistol because of not approving of marraige with venkat by their parents. After the treatment Doctors says that she is in very sensitive stage. when she became a pregnant doctors gives her an emergency antidote from saving her operation time.). Then it works and his wife and baby are saved successfully. Then his colleague says that technically the babies belongs to amaravati and sreenu then venkat objects her point says that the babies belongs to the original mothers who had in their wombs and orders them to give the babies to their mothers. Finally the film ends with venkat looking his wife and his wife looking her baby in a happy and satisfactorily.
