Altötting Abbey

The Kollegiatift Altötting consisted first of all as monastery from 876/877 to 907 and then as Kollegiatift from 1228 to 1803. In 1930 the Kollegiatift was rebuilt without own property.[1][2]

Altötting's parishes Altötting, Waldötting (today's Kastl) and Unterneukirchen were incorporated into the Altötting Kollegiatift. These parishes were filled with canons. In 1401 Neuötting, Alzgern, Burgkirchen am Wald, Hirschhorn, Perach and Rogglfing were added. In 1404 Eggenfelden was also incorporated, and Oberaichbach was incorporated 1424. The extensive property of the monastery was expropriated in 1803 in the course of secularization process. The parishes became self-employed.[3]
