History

AlphaSense, Inc. was founded by Jack Kokko and Raj Neervannan in 2011 to apply advanced linguistic search technology to assist investment professionals, to find information in company disclosures. In 2011, AlphaSense launched its search engine utilizing natural language processing to search through all major filings, earnings calls, conference transcripts and other related documents. In 2012, the search engine added company investor relations presentations for the Russell 3000 constituents to their database of searchable content.

In 2013, the firm announced an expansion of its global data set to include more than 20,000 companies across 60 countries.[2][3]

In 2014, the company expanded their searchable data set to include research reports from top brokerages.

In early 2016, the company announced that it had secured an additional $33 million in growth capital[4][5] and added Dow Jones newswire, which includes Barron's and The Wall Street Journal, to its searchable content sets.[6] In May, the company further enhanced its searchable content set with the addition of real-time news from the Financial Times.[7]

In 2017, the company expanded its content set to include additional news media, as well as trade and industry journals.

Product

AlphaSense is a specialized, web-based financial and company search engine providing users with the ability to search, navigate, annotate and analyze corporate filings and other research documents. Users can set alerts on saved searches and receive instant notification when research, news, press announcements or new data points are available on companies, industries or any keywords of interest. The product uses a blend of proprietary linguistic search and natural language processing algorithms to index every word and passage of text, as well as Machine Learning to expand searches to include relevant synonyms.[8][9][10][11][12]
