Allergy is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal covering the field of allergy and immunology, that is published by John Wiley & Sons on behalf of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology. It publishes both original articles and reviews. The editor-in-chief is Cezmi Akdis (University of Zurich). According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2018 impact factor of 6.048.[1]

Journal Scope

The mission of Allergy is to become the journal for all aspects of the science, practice, education and policy making of Allergy & Clinical and Basic Immunology in overall health care milieu. The vision is to advance, impact, and communicate all aspects of the discipline of Allergy/Immunology including educational, basic, translational and clinical research. Allergy publishes approximately 200 articles per year and its impact factor is 7.3.

Journal History

Allergy was found by Professor Ernst B. Salén as Acta allergolica and was first published by Einer Munksgard (Denmark) in 1948. Professor Ernst B. Salén was also the original Editor-in-Chief, however Professor Egon Bruun also helped in the early years. Other Editors-in-Chief have been Professor Gunnar Bendixen (Denmark, 1970-1992), Professor Gunnar S. Johansson (Sweden, 1993-2002), Professor Jean Bousquet (France, 2003-2009), Professors Thomas Bieber and Hans-Uwe Simon (Germany, 2010-2017), and the current Editor-in-Chief Professor Cezmi Akdis (Switzerland, March 1, 2018 – present).
