Allatoona is an unincorporated community in Bartow County, in the U.S. state of Georgia.[1] The community located along Allatoona Creek, 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of Cartersville.[1]

History

Allatoona had its start about 1840 as a mining community.[2] A post office was established at Allatoona in 1838, and remained in operation until 1918.[3]

The Battle of Allatoona Pass took place here just after the fall of Atlanta in 1864.[4]
