All Africa Music Awards (also referred to as AFRIMA) is an annual award show. The event was established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union (AU) to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage. Its pioneer Awards show was held in 2014.
History

Nigeria has hosted all of the event's shows since its inception in 2014. Nigeria won the first three-year hosting right tenure running from 2014 to 2016.[1] Additionally, following successfully hosting the first three editions, in 2017 the country was awarded another tenure beginning 2017 to 2019.[2]
Organisation
The International Committee of AFRIMA consists of five regions: SADEC, Eastern Africa, Central Africa, North and West Africa, which are run by regional directors and 54 country directors.[3] Public votes determine which artists gets awarded, alongside a jury of experienced musicians.

The awards consists of 33 prizes in two main categories: region-based awards (which covers the five African regions) and the genre-based continental awards. The awards are:
