On 17 June 2015, a bus traveling on the A22 highway near Algarve, Portugal drove off the road and fell into a gully. The accident originally killed a total of three passengers and injured thirty others.[1] However, a fourth passenger on the bus died the following day.[2]

Accident

Traveling from Faro Airport, the bus was carrying thirty-three Dutch tourists, headed to various holiday destinations.[3] All the passengers had arrived to Portugal on flight OR697. At around 11 P.M. local time when it fell off the A22 highway and rolled into a gully.[4] Three passengers died on the scene with a fourth passenger in critical condition dying the following day.[5]

Aftermath

Over one hundred workers responded to the scene of the accident. An emergency hospital to treat the victims was set up right next to the bus.[6]
