Alexander Martín Marquinho Callens Asín (born 4 May 1992) is a Peruvian footballer who plays as a central defender for North American club New York City FC.

Club career

Born in Callao, Callens began his career in Sport Boys' youth categories. He made his professional debut on 18 April 2010 against León de Huánuco,[3] and scored his first goal on 19 June against Inti Gas Deportes.[4]

In August 2011, Callens signed a two-year deal with Real Sociedad from Spain, being assigned to the reserves.[5] He went on to compete in several Segunda División B seasons with the latter.

On 4 December 2014, Callens made his debut with the first team, playing the entire second half of a 0–0 away draw against Real Oviedo for the campaign's Copa del Rey.[6] On 6 June of the following year, however, he was released.[7]

On 10 August 2015, Callens signed a one-year deal with Segunda División side CD Numancia.[8] On 23 January 2017, he terminated his contract[9] and joined New York City FC shortly after,[10][11] scoring his first goal in the Major League Soccer on 3 June 2017 to help the hosts defeat the Philadelphia Union 2–1.[12]
