The Alexander ALX300 (later known as the TransBus ALX300 and the Alexander Dennis ALX300) was a low-floor full-size single-decker bus body built by Alexander in Falkirk, Scotland between 1997 and 2006.

History

The Alexander ALX300 was launched in 1997 as the low-floor replacement for the Strider and the PS type. It was one of the ALX-series bodywork, which accounted for five different models (ALX100 / ALX200 / ALX300 / ALX400 / ALX500), built for new generation (mainly low floor) chassis produced since late 1990s.

It had a rounded roof dome similar to the ALX200, a deep double-curvature windscreen with plastic mouldings under the windscreen to make it look deeper and a separate destination sign. The ALX300 shares its appearance with the ALX200 midibus body, ALX400 2-axle double-decker body and the ALX500 3-axle double-decker body and belongs to the same family as the ALX100 minibus body.

Of the 664 built, 63 were fitted to DAF SB220 chassis, 491 to MAN 18.220s and 110 to Volvo B10BLEs. Stagecoach was the largest purchaser with 448, Arriva purchased 89, Thames Transit 36 and First Glasgow 30.[1]

The ALX300 was superseded by the Alexander Dennis Enviro300.
