Alexander "Alex" Russell (born December 11, 1987) is an Australian actor. He is best known for starring in the 2012 film Chronicle and the 2014 film Believe Me.

Early life

Russell, who was born in Brisbane, grew up in Rockhampton, Queensland,[2] the son of surgeon Dr. Andrew Russell and nurse Frances Russell. He has a younger brother, Dominic, and a younger sister, Georgiana. He graduated from Rockhampton Grammar School in 2004,[3] going on to attend the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney.[4]

Career

Russell made his debut in the 2010 film Wasted on the Young. In 2011, he appeared in two short films, The Best Man and Halloween Knight; he directed a short film as well titled "Love and Dating in LA!, which was featured on the El Rey Network's Peoples Showcase: Horror Edition. In 2012, he starred in the science fiction film Chronicle.[5] He played Billy Nolan in the 2013 Carrie remake.[5] In 2014, he played Sam Atwell in Believe Me.

Just five years after making his TV debut as a guest star on NTSF:SD:SUV in 2012, he joined the cast of the 2017 reboot of the 1975 series S.W.A.T. as Officer Jim Street, the very role played just four decades prior by the late Robert Urich in 1975, becoming part of the main cast.
