Alexander Karp (born October 2, 1967) is an American billionaire businessman, co-founder and CEO of the software firm Palantir Technologies.[3]
Early life
Karp was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Central High School in 1985.[4] Karp has a bachelor's degree from Haverford College, a J.D. from Stanford University,[2] and a doctorate in neoclassical social theory from Frankfurt University.[5] Karp's advisor at Frankfurt University was the well-known German critical theorist, sociologist and philosopher, Jürgen Habermas, a student of Theodor Adorno, a leading thinker of the Frankfurt School.[3]
Career
Prior to co-founding Palantir, Karp founded Caedmon Group.[6]
In March 2018, publishing house Axel Springer SE announced Karp would be joining their board of directors.[7]
Publications
His thesis, supervised by Karola Brede, was titled "Aggression in der Lebenswelt: Die Erweiterung des Parsonsschen Konzepts der Aggression durch die Beschreibung des Zusammenhangs von Jargon, Aggression und Kultur", which means "Aggression in the life-world: The extension of Parsons' concept of aggression by describing the connection between jargon, aggression, and culture."[8]
